The 18th amendment was passed in 1919. The amendment was about the prohibition of alcoholic beverages in the United States. It banned the manufacture, sale, and transportation of alcoholic beverages. This amendment was needed because the United States felt like people were using alcohol excessively and that it caused physical and psychological harm. It is connected to the 21st amendment. The United States changed after this amendment because their was no more alcohol. The 21st amendment The 21st amendment was passed in 1933. The amendment was about repealing prohibition. This amendment was needed because crime rates soared and gangsters became rich by selling alcohol privately. This amendment is connected to the 18th amendment.
